Heating Grants in Quebec for 2025

  1. Chauffez Vert

Chauffez Vert provides financial assistance for converting heating systems powered by oil or propane to renewable energy systems. This funding also applies to replacing oil or propane water heaters. Eligible work includes removing the oil or propane tank and dismantling the existing fuel furnace or boiler.

Amount: The allocated sum depends on the type of housing and heating system.

Eligibility: Homeowners must be existing Hydro-Québec clients, and conversion work must be done with qualified contractors.

  1. Oil-to-Heat Pump Affordability Program

If your income is equal to or below the median income after taxes, you may be eligible for the Oil-to-Heat Pump Affordability Program. This program offers up to $10,000 to homeowners currently heating their homes with oil. This amount is intended to finance the installation of an eligible electric heat pump, allowing for a transition to more environmentally friendly and economical heating.

Eligibility: CAMT program criteria include proof of purchasing 500 litres of oil in the past 12 months (instead of 1,000 litres), a broader range of eligible heat pumps (air and geothermal), and an increased income threshold to account for inflation. A certified professional must undertake the work to ensure the new system’s effectiveness.

  1. Grant for Dual-Energy System – Electricity-Natural Gas

The dual energy grant aims to promote the installation of heating systems combining electricity and natural gas to improve residences’ energy efficiency. Owners of single-family homes, duplexes, or triplexes may benefit, provided their homes are connected to the natural gas network.

Amount: You can receive a grant of $6,000 for a single-family, semi-detached, row house, or condo with a separate heating system.

Eligibility: To be eligible, work must be performed by a certified contractor, and installed systems must meet the program’s efficiency standards to maximize energy savings and emissions reductions.

  1. Rénoclimat

The Rénoclimat program offers financial assistance to encourage owners of single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, or small residential buildings (up to three stories) to undertake energy efficiency improvements.

Amount: The amounts vary based on the improvements made, including up to $20,000 for homeowners and $40,000 for owners of duplexes, triplexes, or multiple-unit residential buildings.

Eligibility: Homeowners must undergo an energy assessment with a certified advisor before starting work.

New Features: Starting November 1, 2024, a fee of $150 (taxes extra) will be required for an energy assessment before work begins. This amount will be reimbursed upon the disbursement of the financial aid.

Other Changes: Since May 1, 2024, several adjustments have been made to the Rénoclimat program. Additional funds have been allocated for insulation and sealing work, replacing doors and windows, as well as installing mechanical systems.

  1. LogisVert

With the LogisVert program, you can obtain financial support of up to $6,700 to purchase and install an efficient heat pump. This program aims to encourage homeowners in Quebec to adopt environmentally friendly heating systems to reduce their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Eligibility: To be eligible, the heating system must be a certified ENERGY STAR® heat pump with high performance, especially at low temperatures. Homeowners must use a qualified contractor for installation and meet the energy performance criteria defined by the program. This grant can be combined with other provincial or federal financial aid, allowing participants to maximize their savings and benefit from increased energy efficiency while reducing their environmental impact.

The application for the Canada Green Homes Grant is now closed. However, the Canada Green Homes Loan remains available. It offers interest-free loans ranging from $5,000 to $40,000, with a repayment period of 10 years, to help you carry out essential home renovations.
